Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about solo Bitcoin mining with NerdMiner and ESP32 devices.

What is solo Bitcoin mining with a NerdMiner?

Solo mining means your device independently attempts to find a valid Bitcoin block. Unlike pooled mining where rewards are split, solo mining gives you the full block reward (currently 3.125 BTC + transaction fees) if your device solves a block. Every hash you submit is a lottery ticket.

What are the odds of finding a Bitcoin block?

A single NerdMiner or ESP32 device hashes at roughly 50 to 80 KH/s. Your individual odds on any given attempt are extremely low, similar to a lottery. However, the pool aggregates hashrate from all connected devices. When a block is found, the full reward goes to the miner who submitted the winning share.

Why is the pool 0% fee?

NerdMiner Pool is a community-driven project, not a commercial operation. Infrastructure costs are covered by voluntary donations. If your miner finds a block, 100% of the Bitcoin reward goes directly to your wallet address.

Which hardware is compatible?

The pool works with any Bitcoin mining hardware that supports the Stratum protocol. This includes NerdMiner v2 devices (LilyGo TTGO T-Display S3, S3 Pro, and other ESP32-S3 boards), Bitaxe miners (Ultra, Hex, Supra), and any other ASIC or FPGA miner. Simply point your device to pool.nerdminer.io:3333 with your BTC address as the worker name.

Can I run multiple NerdMiners on one Bitcoin address?

Yes. Connect as many devices as you want using the same Bitcoin address. The pool dashboard will show combined hashrate, shares, and workers for that address. Each device appears as a separate worker.

How much electricity does a NerdMiner use?

A NerdMiner or TTGO T-Display S3 consumes approximately 3 watts of power. At typical electricity rates, the annual cost is under $5, making it one of the most affordable ways to participate in Bitcoin mining.

What is the difference between solo mining and pool mining?

In traditional pool mining, miners combine hashrate and split every block reward proportionally for small, frequent payments. In solo mining, you mine independently and only earn a reward if your device finds an entire block. NerdMiner Pool coordinates work distribution via the Stratum protocol but does not split rewards. The miner who finds the block keeps 100% of the Bitcoin reward.

How do I connect my device to the pool?

Flash your device with the latest NerdMiner v2 firmware, then set: Server: pool.nerdminer.io, Port: 3333, Worker: your Bitcoin address, Password: x. No registration required.
